The inhabitants of Israel and Palestine have always been confronted with the subject explosion. Because of the conflict between those two nations the war has never stopped. Repeatedly it has come to attacks and confrontations and unfortunately people are already used to violent explosions. That has been reason enough to tackle the problem of explosion to take it as the central idea and build our project around it. So we tried to transform the explosion into a concept for an urban development for Ein Hud.

The explosion itself is the core consisting of the new multifunctional community/art/education/hospitality center which is demanded in the competition papers. The new building, becoming the shape of a deconstructed architecture, forms the intersection between the old, existing and the new planned, extended Ein Hud. It becomes the new centre of the city.

The detonater and the detonation wave, both integral parts of an explotion, are the further components of our project. So it appears as a compact idea. The detonation is made by a fuse, which we use as the new road from the village to road no. 4. It leads in shape of a zigzag line through ein hud. That means you don´t move directly towards the centre, you are kind of “hold-up”. It becomes a more and more loading tension, as we all know it is the case for a detonated fuse until it comes finally to the loud bang. After the explotion it comes to the already mentioned detonation wave. It forms the second fundamental consideration in our project. The detonation wave creates a skin whose shape adopts an explotions temperature process. This skin builds a coat on our new planned extension area and marks out the new boundary of the city of Ein Hud.

The idea results from the behavior of the people who live in those regions. They have a constant urge to extend their porperties and to win and safe land as fast as possible. So it usually happens that they build lots of houses and settlements without a concept.

We have established an effective way of land resolution by founding the skin over the beforehand planned extension area. That way we provide the inhabitants of Ein Hud enough time to found their new homes under the skin. But this time our ordered development planning concept gives them the opportunity to build their settlements thoughtful. The further the settlement of the extension area will be progressed, the more the skin will be broken up by explosion untill it eventually will disappear.
