- Infrastructures of Supremacy

MAPT(1)

Infrastructures of Supremacy, a hypothetical design for a new Embassy, to be sited at a location involving US armed forces and requiring specific responses in order to support and facilitate political exchange. The program opened the opportunity for students to explore and develop interim products defining architectural instrumentations to develop mission and responses interrelating: site/research, ideas, design and communication.

The Embassy proposal is an entropic political laboratory sited in the Dead Sea mirroring the drama of the ongoing Middle East crisis. The design is defined by a loose entity of architectural coral-like objects floating in slow motion and searching for equilibrium and purpose. Processes of uncertainty are translated into architectural choreography of temporal kinetic assemblages. The staged scenarios are exploiting the deep sea environment of barren life, mono-color and the taxonomy of dissolving light, time and gravity.

The portfolio documents the various stages of the design process exemplifying and exploiting the scope of the studio structure and the work with different media as exploratory and communicative tools. The project builds up design arguments deeper interest and understanding of the interrelations of humanism, design and environment.
