- Masterplan and project for a musical youth center
The village Ein Hud is at the point of deciding where it wants to go. Along fight for recognition and the right of existence is now won. A vision for the village should now be formulated to insist in the villages splendid opportunities. The biggest one for sure is the touristical potential, because of the unique and beauitiful nature.
The aim is also to ancor the palestinian society and culture in their homeland, which is part from a future state in the now occupied territories the state of Israel. In order to support the cultural emancpation of the palestinian society itmakes sence to provide all palestinian cultural functions in Israel.
The new palestinian youth orchestra is still looking for a home. It is the orchestra of all palestinians from all over the world. Right now the only country where they all can meet is Jordania, but in the future it should be possible to gather in the homeland. Placing a musical center in the village means placing a guesthouse with additional functions, specialized in the need of musical groups for intensive rehearsal in a quiet and beautiful surrounding, close to all the major cities of Israel/ Phalestine. It can become an important employment and future energizer of the culture and identity of the village, the aim is to link this function strongly with the village.
Musical center_ rehearsal rooms
A seria of small, equal houses along with a wrinkeled line climb up the mountain connecting the village square with the rehearsal center.
The houses are made like the climbers that together challenge a mountain in dangerous territory. They're tighed to eachother with a rope, the rope somewhere linked, ancored in the mountain. The rope is the path connecting the houses.
The individuals have to form a team such as the musicians, living in team, do too. They come together from all over the world in order to form a whole.
The path is public and a new and important vertical link for the village.
Ancor_Musical center_rehearsal rooms
The rehearsal rooms are volumes in the soil that are accessible by deep cut into the hill in the end of the climbing, that holds the rope in the mountain and symbilizes the strong link of the people with their land.
The cut's intersection with the volumes provide the access to the different rooms. Here is the tutti-hall for the whole orchestra, several secondary rooms for register-rehearsal, a recording studio and misic school serving the village and the valley. The big building rising out of the earth provides the kitchen, dining room and other communicational spaces of the guesthouse. It is overlooking the valley and opens to the accessible roofs of the underground volumes.
Entering point of the village
The entering point now is in the south of Ein Hud. A central parking lot is provided. Here starts the existing main road to climb the hill. A new path is introduced leading uphill passing by the village square, accompanied by generous green areas. The new medical center will beplaced on the foot of the green.
School
The school is placed in direct neighbourhood to the reharsal center.
The two educational facilities of the village should work in synergy, which means that they share rooms and sports facilities if needed. There will be a music school established which provides a musical culture in the villagers future. The school building is made up of a modular system to accomplish varying growth and needs.
Village square
The new village square provides the vital functions of the village, such as commerce. The municipality - which moved into the former school - and locations for communication. The two bordering buildings will house these functions. They are made up of terraces, looking down to the square. Broad stairways bridge seven meters of difference in height. They are part of the square and simoultaneosly. Form an amphiteater that can serve for various kinds of presentation, in itself is a highly communicative device and will be the location in which the orchestra can show its skill to the public.
