- EIN HUD MASTER PLAN
The new master plan for the city of Ein Hud will promote a tolerant environment in which a mixture of cultures will interact. Through education, the conflicts that result from religious or cultural differences will be diminished.
To reinforce this concept, the interaction between Ein Hud and Ein Hod will be promoted with a sculptural pedestrian pathway that connects both cities. The promenade will feature a broken wall symbolizing the rupture of prejudices and conflicts. The proposed master plan gives priority to pedestrian traffic by making the main street a non-vehicular road. Regardless of the pedestrian scale proposed, vehicular traffic is addressed by creating a series of rings that will facilitate the automobiles’ flow. Parking is provided at the perimeter of these vehicular roads. Residential buildings have been arranged following the lawless arrangement that was featured in the original town; creating a central courtyard to serve the neighbors and thus promoting a sense of community. The City Hall and Hospitality Center are located at the furthest point of the site facing Ein Hod and welcoming inhabitants and visitors to the city. Following the axis that connects the cities, a series of resting areas are provided to enhance the experience of the promenade. A plaza is proposed to embellish and accentuate the Mosque. The market, commercial and touristic areas are located in a series of multi-leveled plazas at the beginning of the top of the hill. Continuing the axis the Multi Cultural Center can be found facing the School creating a central courtyard that can be used as resting or pick-nick areas. On top of the hill a Technology Center is proposed for the study, research and production of solar panels. A solar panel farm will be located on the southeast end of the master plan. In the first phase of development it will generate enough energy to meet Ein Hud’s energy necessities. In the later stages, it will generate surplus that can be sold to neighboring towns.
