- EIN HUD MASTER PLAN
The master plan for ein hud proposes a system of urban infill
to create what was lacking in the current design - a sense of
being in an urban space. Taking what was already there, the
existing buildings and weaving have achieved this
an urban fabric to create a village seen in typical Arab design.
The pink, green, blue, and yellow are the new homes that will
do that. Also the debris from around the village will be used to fill
in the gaps where houses cannot go. Since the village is still in
early development notice has been taken to provide the current
residents with the amenities they need. As the village becomes
larger the neighborhoods will each be sustainable on its own.
This means short walking distances and programs such as
bathhouses, commercial space, and small market places for
three of the four neighborhoods. The yellow datum line
represents the path the villagers must take to achieve a truly
seamless Israel. The path begins with the community center
where religious and cultural tolerance will be taught; in the
middle of the plan is the trade school where the villagers shall
learn the building arts such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical,
and other types of work to build those new homes. And with the
new skills gained they can then work out in greater Israel and
see first hand the different cultures while also making capital for
the village, and in the end after the 50 year mark a monument
will be erected to honor the progress of the Israeli and
Palestinian people.
The community center shows, like the master plan, a focus
on natural growth, a growth that the villagers of Ein Hud will see
fit for their needs. With the knowledge they have gained at the
technical school they can add on to the center as their needs
dictate. The building was design with two dead-end hallways for
that idea, to be easily changed by knocking out a wall and
creating the addition. The concept for the building has come from
the notion that the people of Ein Hud have come from ein hod
(which is the more traditional square shaped part) and created
something completely new and of their own. This is shown as the
sharper outgrowth from the square.
